Safety and Security
Several efforts are already underway:
Safety/Security Team: A team is being formed to monitor incidents and help coordinate the community’s response.
Security Measures: Four volunteers are evaluating the pros and cons of potential new security measures.
Community and Police Coordination: Safe Block Program/Crime Prevention and the Portland Police Bureau are working with us and police reports are being filed.
Garage Repairs: Repairs have begun on garages where residents have submitted AVRs and filed police reports.
Financial Support: Two concerned residents have already made donations to help offset the increasing costs of addressing these incidents.
We are looking for volunteers for the following short-term roles:
Security/Safety Team — 5–7 volunteers needed
Help monitor future incidents, share information, and support the community’s ongoing safety efforts. Two volunteers have already stepped forward, and we need additional help.
Vandalism Assessment and Recordkeeping — 3–5 volunteers
Damage assessment: 2–3 people willing to take calls when an incident occurs and help assess and document the damage.
Incident records: 1–2 people willing to maintain records of incidents, damages, and follow-up actions.
Police Report Assistance — 3–4 volunteers needed
. Some residents may need help navigating the process of filing a police report. Because the garages are leased by individual owners, the Portland Police Bureau has informed the HOA that individual owners must file their own reports. Volunteers can help residents understand the process and complete the necessary steps.
Financial Donations
: If you are unable to volunteer your time, a financial contribution to help offset security-related expenses would also be appreciated. More information about donating will be provided by the designated contact.
Other Ways to Help: Have another skill, resource, or idea that could help improve community safety? We welcome your suggestions!
